Paulo, master goldsmith of Paulo's Jewelry

About

The Hands Behind the Heritage

For over four decades, Paulo has been turning raw gold into heirlooms. Trained in Meycauayan, Bulacan — the undisputed jewelry capital of the Philippines — he is a master goldsmith who has dedicated his life to the quiet, meticulous art of handcrafting custom jewelry.

Every piece that leaves his bench is a testament to traditional craftsmanship. Designed from scratch, forged with enduring patience, and finished with the exacting care that only a lifelong artisan can provide.

Our Story

Crafted by Time, Proven by Trials

At the heart of every fine piece of jewelry is a story of refinement. Gold must pass through the fire to find its true brilliance — and so did the master artisan behind this name.

Chapter One

The Spark of a Master — From Runner to Artisan

The journey began in 1976 in Meycauayan, Bulacan. A sixteen-year-old boy named Patty entered a traditional jewelry workshop — not with tools, but with a willingness to learn.

In those days, an apprenticeship wasn't taught in a classroom. It was earned. Patty started as an errand boy earning three pesos a week, running to buy cigarettes and sweeping floors for the senior jewelers.

He kept his eyes open.

He watched how the metal bent, how the solder flowed, how raw gold transformed into art. He realized this trade demanded years of devotion — the kind only patience could grant.

Eventually, the older jewelers grew tired of making tiny gold jump rings and small wire loops. They handed the torch to Patty, making him a true craftsman in the making — right there, in 1976.

At seventeen, his hands trembled at the thought of ruining precious gold. But his mentors gave him a lesson that would define his career:

Do not be scared. If you make a mistake, you melt it, and you remold it. The only way to learn is to start.

With that newfound courage, Patty finished his first rings. By 1982, he was a full-fledged jeweler.

His craft gave him more than a profession — it gave him a life. With it, he courted the woman who would become his wife.

He was twenty-one. She was eighteen.

Chapter Two

Weathering the Storms and the Birth of a Brand

As their family grew, so did the challenges.

To provide a better life, Patty moved his young family to Pampanga in 1988, working tirelessly to afford the birth of his firstborn child in 1989.

Recognizing his skill, a loyal client encouraged him to go independent. Lacking the funds for a proper storefront — and the resources to process official documents — Patty partnered with a friend opening a beauty parlor. He shared a tiny, cramped stall, operating quietly under the parlor's name: Soft Touch.

Success was not instant.

There were seasons when the shop was empty for days. With no money for the commute back home, Patty would spend nights sleeping on the floor of that tiny stall, surviving on pure hard work.

When business dried up for weeks, he traveled as far as Pangasinan just to take outsourced orders from other jewelers.

Even when tempted to turn to high-interest lenders during the hardest times, he held onto his integrity. He refused.

Then, nature tested him further. The eruption of Mt. Pinatubo and the devastating lahar floods that followed paralyzed the local economy. Customers vanished.

In 1992, with his wife pregnant with their second child, Patty knew he needed a new path. He took a leap of faith and left for Saudi Arabia to work as a skilled jeweler.

But the distance was heavy.

Severe homesickness plagued him. He sent every peso home and missed everything — birthdays, anniversaries, the months of his wife's pregnancy, the rhythm of an ordinary day.

Bound by contract, he endured one and a half years of isolation before returning home to Bulacan, carrying one promise: he would never leave them again.

When he returned, that second child was already born.

They named him Paulo.

With a renewed spirit and a desire to build a lasting legacy, Patty finally established his own name. Out of the parlor days, Paulo's Jewelry was officially born.

From that moment on, his identity shifted alongside his business. To his loyal clients, neighbors, and friends, he was no longer just Patty.

He became, affectionately, “Kuya Paulo.”

Chapter Three

The Grace of Kindness — A Turning Point

Returning home was a reset.

The old shop had suffered in his absence, and constant flooding in San Fernando forced him back to Bulacan temporarily. But a master artisan belongs at his bench.

In 1997, with a third child on the way, Kuya Paulo returned to Pampanga for another try.

Then grace arrived.

A Chinese client — Mrs. Amparo Siy, owner of A.A. Grocery— recognized Kuya Paulo's rare skill and honest character. With her children, she did something life-changing: they gifted him a rent-free, 3×2 meter space along a busy roadside.

They refused to take a single centavo for rent. And whenever Kuya Paulo tried to waive the fees for their jewelry repairs out of gratitude, they insisted on paying him in full.

The Siy family became more than patrons. They became family — even standing as ninang to his third child.

With a stable location and a flood of customers, the tides finally turned for Paulo's Jewelry.

Chapter Four

A Legacy Cast in Gold

By the year 2000, decades of hard work culminated in a dream fulfilled. Kuya Paulo bought a piece of land in Mexico, Pampanga, and built a home for his wife and children.

As the years rolled on, the industry shifted. Roads expanded. The shop shrank to a tiny 1×2 meter space. When the pandemic came, even that closed — and Paulo moved his bench home.

Yet the craft never stopped.

In 2025, the same supportive Chinese family offered him a modest 1×1 meter space — small, but more than enough for a master who needs nothing more than his bench, his tools, and his fire.

From an errand boy earning three pesos a week to a master craftsman, Kuya Paulo's hands have put five children through school:

An HRM professional.

An Electronics Engineer.

An Automotive Expert.

A Mass Communication graduate.

A Senior High student still finding his path.

Today, this jewelry store stands as a testament to that journey.

We do not mass-produce. We honor four decades of mastery.

Every repair, every custom remodel, every heirloom crafted from scratch carries the spirit of a man who learned that no matter how many times life breaks you, you can always melt the gold, remold it, and build something beautiful again.
